Before you purchase a new replacement grate, did you know that you can sand down any rough edges with a small sander or a Dremel with a sanding attachment? It's pretty easy to do. Rough edges can happen from feeding a dense hay like alfalfa, packing the hay in too tightly, feeding dense hay in cold, icy conditions, or just from prolonged use.
Replacement grates come with that amazing rip-stop fabric already attached. All you have to do is unscrew the acorn nuts with a 3/8 wrench and a phillips head screwdriver. The process takes about 20 minutes.
